  • Yes, the City of Richmond requires each food truck to have a VDH approved commissary kitchen to prep from. This rule may or may not apply in surrounding counties.

  • Membership fees are assessed annually, with current cost at $200. There is no pro-rating the membership fee, and membership expires on 12/31 of each year.

  • You will need an up to date Virginia Department of Health permit, and an up to date Business License. You will also typically need a Certificate of Insurance to book events.

  • Yes, this is how we can advertise your locations, send you catering requests, and help you book gigs at various food truck hotspots in town.

  • To a degree, yes. Below are a list of links to commissarys, and a list to The City and Surrounding County’s registration sites. Feel free to reach us by email for any further assistance we can offer

Booking FAQs

  • We have made it extremely easy to find a truck for your event. Head over to our “Book a truck” section, and fill out a request form. This form will be sent to our members and the ones that are available will contact you directly.

  • Both are great options for an event, but what is distinct about booking a food truck is that you will have a kitchen cooking freshly prepared food on site.

Food trucks are also self-contained, and leave a very low impact footprint (if any). Food trucks also typically have quicker set up and breakdown times, since they are self-contained and mobile.

  • While the answer is technically no, we STRONGLY recommend budgeting a base minimum of guaranteed sales for each truck you would like to have at your event. Food trucks are small businesses, and there are plenty of costs incurred just to be set up and ready to sell at an event.

Guaranteeing a base minimum (even as low as $100 an hour) can generate more trucks responding to participate in your event. Most trucks do have a standard minimum they adhere to for booking events, but not all trucks do. Feel free to send a request for trucks through, or reach trucks directly on our member page, to find out what each truck’s minimum is.

  • Typically one truck can handle up to 100 eaters, sometimes more. If you are looking to have multiple cuisines for under 100 eaters, prepare to possibly be met with a minimum by the trucks you are looking to book.
